Nofan is the new design company from the same team that originally developed Zalman into the quiet cooling market leaders. Having left the company in order to develop and innovate new cooling solutions the NoFan CR95 PSU cooler is one of the most effective passive coolers on the market and when teamed up with the Seasonic X series passive PSU solutions means that the basis of this machine has no moving parts. Coupled with Intel's latest Z87 platform and a 4770S cpu you can now have both performance and silence in one small footprint solution.

At the heart of the spec is a Asus Z87 board solution along with the low power 4770S cpu. The 4770S is a low power edition of the class leading 4770 cpu with a 30% lower power usage which in turn means less heat. Although the 4770S is clocked slightly slower than it's more power hungry revisions with a stock speed of 3.1Ghz the turbo function still takes the CPU upto 3.9Ghz when the extra performance is required.

What does this mean to you? We've tested this under 100% CPU load for hours and days and it won't get anywhere near the troublesome threshold. This means you can fit and forget this passive solution and be sure of total stability and the performance you need to carry out even the most demanding of projects.

Whilst no system can truly be without moving parts we've selected an SSD option for the main drive and and mounted a caddie to enable the use of a slot loading DVD drive and additional caddie to mount a 2.5" removable hard drive. By using the components normally reserved for laptops we can choose the optimum solutions designed with low noise profiles in mind, so whilst you can never build a truly silent machine we believe this is one of the quietest desktops currently available.
